Cookies
Last updated: October 21, 2026 (notice version: 2026-10-03; adds the OpenAI cookies on the ChatGPT ads page)
A cookie is a small file that a website stores in your browser to remember something next time. meceluna.com uses just one, and only if you accept it. The exception is the page our ChatGPT ads lead to (meceluna.com/chatgpt): there, if you accept, two from OpenAI are also stored, to know whether the ad works. On the rest of the site there are no advertising cookies or cookies from other sites, and the fonts and the rest of the page are served from here, so they do not go through Google either.
What is stored in your browser
- ph_…_posthog (cookie and local storage)
- Only if you accept. A random code to know whether you come back another day, so we count people, not just visits. It is from meceluna.com: PostHog sets it, which measures visits for us. It lasts one year.
- __oppref and __obref (cookies, only on meceluna.com/chatgpt)
- Only if you accept. OpenAI sets them: the first remembers that you arrived through its ad (it lasts 30 days) and the second is a random code for this browser (it lasts one year). They let OpenAI count whether its ad brought you and whether you tapped “Download”.
- __oaiq_consent (cookie, only on meceluna.com/chatgpt)
- If you decline, it stores that “no” so that OpenAI measures nothing. Technical; it lasts until you delete it.
- __ph_opt_in_out_… (local storage)
- Your answer to the notice, so we do not ask you on every page. It is technical and needs no permission. It lasts until you delete it.
- mec_consent (local storage)
- The date and version of the notice you answered, so we ask you again after a year or if what we ask for changes. Technical; it lasts until you delete it.
If you decline it
The site works exactly the same. The visit is counted without cookies: PostHog calculates on its server a fingerprint from the internet address and the browser, mixed with a value that changes every day, and stores neither the address nor the previous day's fingerprint. This way each day's visits are counted without being able to know who you are or follow you from one day to the next. If you do not answer the notice, nothing is counted.
What is measured and who receives it
Which pages are viewed, for how long and how far they are read, which site you come from, which links and buttons are tapped (such as “Download” or a store's, without the full address), whether the cookie is accepted or not, how long each page takes to load (Google's Core Web Vitals), the type of device and the browser. PostHog (a US company, with the data in the European Union, in Frankfurt) receives it as our processor, under a contract that prevents it from using it for anything else. The IP is not stored. On our plan, PostHog keeps this data for at least a year. We do not cross it with anything or use it for ads.
On meceluna.com/chatgpt, and only if you accept, OpenAI also receives that you visited the page after its ad and whether you tapped “Download”, with those two cookies and the technical data of the visit (such as the internet address and the browser). OpenAI processes them as a controller, according to its privacy policy. It never receives anything of what you log in the app.
Why we can do it
The cookie, only with your permission (article 22.2 of the Information Society Services Law (Ley de Servicios de la Sociedad de la Información) and article 6.1.a of the General Data Protection Regulation). The cookieless count of those who decline is audience measurement with nothing stored in your browser, based on our legitimate interest in knowing which parts of the site are useful (article 6.1.f).
How we prove your permission
When you accept, PostHog stores that moment with the version of the notice you saw, together with the visit data. If what we ask for ever changes, the version changes and we ask you again.
